Marie Sharpe Elementary

We started our school year in such a meaningful way today! Our staff are excited to be back together and ready to welcome our students tomorrow.

We were grateful to spend the day learning, connecting, and experiencing valuable teachings together. A big thank you to the staff of Cataline, Nesika, and Chilcotin Road Elementary Schools for joining us for the afternoon. Together, we had the opportunity to learn through drumming, Lahal, hoop dancing, making medicine bags, and Orange Shirt pin making. What a fantastic afternoon of learning, connection, and community! Thank you to Cataline for hosting and thank you to everyone who worked to make today possible!

A special thank you to Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair for sharing your knowledge and teachings with us about how we can meaningfully assess reconciliation within our schools. It was an honour to learn from you and to have you as our keynote speaker today.

Thank you as well to Superintendent Cheryl Lenardon for bringing us together and inviting Niigaanwewidam to share his teachings with us.

We are grateful to begin our year grounded in learning, connection, and reconciliation, and we are excited to carry this learning with us into the year ahead.
